Kansas City Area DUI Checkpoint Update: 8/23/13 - 8/25/13
More checkpoints this weekend, all part of the "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose." campaign funded by the Kansas Dept. of Transportation.
Here's what we know so far:
1. The Shawnee Police Dept. has announced that they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, August 23rd, 2013, somewhere in Shawnee with the assistance of the Johnson County Sheriff's Dept. They did not announce a location, but Shawnee Mission Parkway and Nieman is my guess. If they suspect you of being impaired it is likely they will ask you to take field sobriety tests, and possibly other chemical testing to help estimate your Blood Alcohol Content as well. See our blog post on Why to Refuse Field Sobriety Testing in Kansas.
2. The Lawrence Police Dept. has announced that they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, August 23rd, 2013, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. College students are back in town, and they are apparently trying to set the tone early. No comments on where it will be located.
3. And finally, the Riley County Police Dept. in Manhattan, KS has announced that they will have a DUI checkpoint on Saturday, August 24th, 2013. Same theme as in Lawrence, trying to set the tone early and pick up the revenue to the courts from the slow summer...
As always, we will update as we learn more, have a safe weekend!
