Weekend DUI Checkpoint Update: 6/22 - 6/24
It sounds like it might be a slow weekend in the KC Metro area as far as DUI checkpoints go, but that isn't really surprising since there have been checkpoints for literally about the last 5 to 6 weekends straight.
In KC Metro:
1. Johnson County Sheriff's Department has announced they will be doing DUI saturation patrols this weekend, meaning there will be officers out on patrol that are specifically looking for signs of DUI.
Here is what we have been made aware of if you are travelling outside the Kansas City area this weekend:
1. Country Stampede in Manhattan, KS is going on all weekend and the Kansas Highway Patrol has announced that they will have troopers out doing DUI saturation patrols, etc. all weekend long. If you are out there designate a driver if you have to drive back into Manhattan to spend the night, it's not worth spending the night in the drunk tank.
2. Lake of the Ozarks: The Missouri Highway Patrol Captain G. Kindle, announced that sometime during the months of June and July 2012, a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted on Lake of the Ozarks. Troopers within Troop F of the Missouri State Highway Patrol will conduct the checkpoint. It's likely there will be a BUI checkpoint about every weekend on the lake people. Just keep it between the navigational beacons and use a sober driver.
We will update you as we learn more, have a safe weekend!
