Kansas City Area DUI Checkpoint Update: 5/3/13 - 5/5/13

Well people it looks like the police planned some DUI enforcement before they realized there would be snow on the ground during this Cinco De Mayo / Kentucky Derby Race Weekend. Here's what we know so far:

1. The Overland Park Police Department has announced they will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol on Friday May 2nd, 2013. A DUI saturation patrol is different from a checkpoint in the fact that there is no checkpoint, in this instance there will be 5 extra officers out specifically looking for driver's with signs of impairment ( failure to maintain lane, etc.) The saturation patrol will start at 10:00 p.m. and run to 2:00 a.m. They typically start out of the Myron Scafe Building @ 8500 Antioch, Overland Park, KS.

2. The Kansas City Missouri Police Dept. has announced they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint sometime this weekend. In all likelihood it will be downtown near the Power & Light district trying to get people leaving the Cinco De Mayo celebrations, although KCMO hasn't announced a specific location.

As always it's safest not to drink and drive, and it's much easier to spend $20 on a cab ride home. We will update as we learn more. Have a safe weekend celebrating the 5th of May, and the Kentucky Derby!
