Multiple DUI Checkpoints planned in the KC Metro Area this weekend.

Several police departments have announced that they are looking to lay the smack down on drunken driving this weekend with DUI sobriety checkpoints and a DUI saturation patrol.

Kansas City Police, Shawnee Police, Johnson County Sheriff, and Independence Police said they will conduct DUI checkpoints and DUI saturation patrols.

Kansas City police will run a DUI checkpoint sometime this weekend at a location known for alcohol related accidents or arrests.

Independence Police said the traffic safety unit will run both a DUI checkpoint and DUI saturation patrol on Friday in an area where drunken driving arrests and accidents are common.

Shawnee Police said that they, and the Johnson County Sheriff’s office will conduct a DUI Checkpoint and driver’s license checkpoint Friday evening into Saturday morning.

Drivers suspected of being intoxicated will be asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests. Impaired drivers will be arrested. Drivers without a valid license will be ticketed.

So don't say you haven't been warned. Spread the word, and be safe out there people. They can and will write you up for DUI even if you have only had a couple of drinks.

And on a side note for any people who celebrate 4/20, Police can also give you a DUI if they suspect you to be Driving Under the influence of Drugs.
