DUI Defendant Shows Up To Court Drunk

Here's todays lesson of things not to do. A Bloomington, IL man showed up to court on his scheduled court date and time at the McLean County Illinois Law and Justice Center as he was supposed to, however he was also noticeably intoxicated and decided to hit a court security officer in a struggle for his car keys.

After this altercation officers questions the man, Michael D. Schroyer, to see if he had been drinking, he told the officers "Hell yeah, I drink everyday!".

As you can see in the above picture, Mr. Schroyer received a couple cuts and bruises during his scuffle with the police. After he was placed under arrest, and taken to the police station, they asked him to sumbit to a breath test. Mr. Schroyer decided to refuse this test, and told the officers "The last time I did that they told me I had so much alcohol in my blood that I should have been dead. I think that machine was wrong. That’s why I’m here today. I am going to fight it. I got a hell of a tolerance, I guess,”

In addition to Mr. Schroyer's original charges of DUI, he is now also facing charges of aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

Mr. Schroyer's original BAC reading from his DUI arrest was .336, more than four times the legal limit of .08.

Remember don't be like Mr. Schroyer.
