Weekend DUI Checkpoint Update: 6/1 - 6/3

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department and the Overland Park Police Department have announced that they willl be conducting a DUI sobriety checkpoints tonight, Friday, June 1st, 2012. Drivers suspected of being intoxicated will be given field sobriety tests and those drivers who are confirmed to be DUI will be arrested. The checklane will probably start around 9 p.m and run into the early hours of Saturday morning.

Here are the results of the last DUI checklane they had on May 11th in Overland Park:

• 673 vehicles entered the Check Lane

• 38 drivers were tested.

• 5 were cited for driving under the influence.

• 3 were were charged with drug possession

• 3 were arrested for transporting an open container.

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department has also announced that they will have a checkpoint at an area known for alcohol related arrests and accidents sometime this weekend, no specific day or date was given. Police will place signs in advance of the DUI checkpoint alerting motorists. Traffic will be directed to an area where officers can determine whether drivers should be Field Sobriety Tested to see if they are DUI.
