Mission Police Department announce plans for a DUI Checkpoint on October 28, 2011

|

Well the Mission Police Department has announced they will be having a sobriety checkpoint at an undislosed location in Mission, KS on Halloween Weekend. This is one of what I am sure are going to be many DUI / Drunk Driving Checkpoints that I'm sure are going to be in full force on Halloween Weekend.

Mission police announced plans today for a sobriety checkpoint next week.

The checkpoint will open on the evening of Oct. 28 and continue into early Saturday morning, according to a police statement, which did not say where the checkpoint would operate.

“The effectiveness of sobriety checkpoints lies not only in the fear of being arrested, but also in the number of people who plan in advance to take cabs home after drinking,” the statement said.

Police said drivers determined to be impaired would be arrested.

Be sure to spread the word to your friends. Take cabs or set up a Designated Driver. If you or anyone you know runs into any trouble be sure to contact our office to discuss your legal options. Take a look at the penalties if you need any affirmation that it just isn't worth it. Remember the easiest way to avoid getting a DUI is not to get behind the wheel if you can help it!
