KHP Plans Saturation Patrol for 12/3/11 in Lawrence and Douglas County, Kansas.

|

The Kansas Highway Patrol has announced that they will be conducting a Saturation Patrol in Lawrence and all of Douglas County, Kansas on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011.

Many of you may ask what is a Saturation Patrol? What police agencies generally do is operate DUI Checkpoints or Drunk Driving Checklanes where they will set up a road block and have all traffic on a given street or stretch of highway pull through to be checked for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs. However a Saturation Patrol means that they will have substantially more Troopers and Police Officers out and about that are specifically looking to pull people over for DUI

The goal of a Saturation Patrol is to deter crime in a given area, in this case Douglas County, Kansas. The end result is that LOTS of traffic tickets as well as a few DUI's will be given out in Lawrence this weekend. This is just one of the many examples of the current funding the state has received to combat drunk driving, and also bolster revenue by hitting people with traffic fines. I expect this holiday season to jam packed with DUI Checkpoints and DUI Saturation Patrols across the state of Kansas. So stay tuned, and we will try to keep you up to date as we learn of them.
