Weekend DUI Checkpoint Update: 9/14 - 9/16
Well not a whole lot of things to report for this weekend in the metro area.... Here is what we have heard of so far.
1. The Independence Missouri Police Department’s traffic safety unit will conduct a DUI sobriety checkpoint and
DUI saturation patrol this weekend. Police said they are hoping to identify and arrest
drunk drivers before they injure someone or themselves. The special enforcement effort will be in an area of Independence where
drunken driving related arrests and
crashes are prevalent.
2. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Lawrence Police Department will conduct a DUI saturation patrol and
drunken driving check lane this evening, beginning at 7 p.m. and stretching into early Sunday, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. The location of the check lane hasn’t been announced, but the saturation patrol will be throughout the county.
They have been doing these for every KU home football game, and this is just more of the same.
We will update as we learn more. Have a safe weekend.
As always the best way to avoid getting a DUI is simply not to drink and drive. It's much safer and cheaper to take a cab or arrange a DD. However, if you or someone you know has been charged with a
