Halloween Weekend DUI Checkpoint Update: 10/26 - 10/28
Surprisingly, not a whole lot of activity planned for this weekend. Here's what we have heard so far:
1. KCMO Police announced that they are not having any checkpoints this weekend, but that they will be having extra mobile enforcement out there, meaning DUI Saturation Patrols. Saturation Patrols are extra officers out on patrol tasked with specifically looking for
DUI's.
2. The Kansas Highway Patrol has announced that they will be conducting a DUI checklane this weekend in Shawnee County. It begins the evening of Fri., Oct. 26 & goes into the morning hours of Sat., Oct. 27. If a driver is suspected of being
DUI, they will likely ask them to perform
field sobriety testing (See this
article for info on FST's), and if they show signs of impairment on
field sobriety testing they will be asked to take additional chemical tests, such as
breath testing.
As always we will update as we learn more. Have a safe Halloween weekend folks!
