Weekend DUI Checkpoint Update: 6/15 - 6/17

1. Johnson County Kansas Sheriff's Department has announced that they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint in cooperation with the Shawnee Police Department. The checkpoint will be somewhere in Shawnee on Friday 6/15 into early Saturday 6/16. They will looks for signs of impairment and use field sobriety testing on those suspected of drunk driving. Those found to show signs of impairment will be arrested for DUI.
2. Kansas City Missouri Police have also announced that they will be conducting a DWI checkpoint in an area known for alcohol related accidents and arrests.
3. Independence Missouri Police Traffic Safety Unit has announced that it will conduct a sobriety checkpoint and DWI saturation patrol this weekend, meaning they will have an actual checkpoint, and extra police out looking specifically for DWI arrests. The operation will be located in an area of Independence where DWI arrests and related type crashes are common.
